GUIDING STARS - HONOURING THOSE WHO INSPIRE US
Developed and tested by experienced teachers, this PSHE lesson is designed for students aged 7-14, with age-appropriate adaptations throughout. It encourages pupils to reflect on and celebrate the influence of historical figures, ancestors, or personal mentors who have shaped their lives.
• A full lesson exploring themes of legacy, remembrance, and gratitude
• A focus on oracy, helping students express themselves and, crucially, how they listen and respond to others using probing questions, active listening and body language.
• A creative “Guiding Star” activity: students create a paper-cut star to honour someone who has inspired them. Includes templates for both KS2 and KS3, designed especially for Celebration Day 2025 by acclaimed artist Rob Ryan, best known for his intricate and delicate paper cuts.

"FOR ALL THAT HAS BEEN, THANKS. TO ALL THAT SHALL BE, YES."
Inspired by the words of Dag Hammarskjöld, Lord Chartres invites people of all faiths and none to pause, remember, and give thanks for those no longer with us, and to look ahead with hope.
