F.A.Q.

Celebration Day is an annual moment, dedicated to the remembrance of those who have inspired us, and made a difference to our own lives, but are no longer here. It’s about sharing their stories, keeping their memories shining bright, and celebrating the lasting impact they’ve had.

A civilian Remembrance Day, of sorts, Celebration Day is about bringing people and communities together, across society, to honour those we have loved and lost, as well as those whose lives have inspired us.

Celebration Day is an idea based on love and appreciation. It does not campaign, lobby, or profit, and there are no political, commercial, or religious affiliations. Participation is simple—there’s no need to sign up, donate, or provide any personal information. Just take part in your own way.

Held annually on the last bank holiday Monday in May, the next Celebration Day will take place on Monday 26th May 2025.

We invite you to find your own way to honour and remember those who have made a difference to your life.

You decide who you want to celebrate, and how you do it—there's no rule for how you should remember. Whether it's a shoutout, a gathering, or something totally unique, it's up to you.

Celebration Day offers a unique opportunity to engage with your customers, members, or supporters in a meaningful way. Whether through special offers, community events, or online campaigns, you can use this day to deepen existing relationships and attract new ones. It’s a chance to connect with your community while honouring those who’ve inspired you.

In today’s increasingly secular world, we’ve lost many of the communal rituals that help us acknowledge the lives and legacies of those who came before us. Unlike cultures such as Mexico’s Day of the Dead, where death is openly honoured and celebrated, we often struggle to talk about the people who shaped our lives, especially as society becomes more disconnected.

Celebration Day provides a dedicated moment to reflect and share memories of those who’ve influenced us. It’s not intended to replace everyday remembrance but to create space for collective acknowledgment. It’s a day to break the taboos around death, honour the impact of those who’ve paved the way before us, and remind ourselves that their influence doesn’t die with them—it continues to shape who we are.

Celebration Day is for everyone—regardless of age, culture, religion, or background. It’s a chance to celebrate both the well-known figures from history who’ve inspired us and the everyday unsung heroes in our own lives. Just because others might not have heard of them doesn’t make their influence any less powerful or significant.

This day is intended to bring us together to honour the lives, love, and legacies of those we’ve lost. It’s about breaking the discomfort around talking about death, celebrating the impact of those who paved the way before us, and reflecting on how their influence continues to shape us.

Celebration Day also serves as a reminder for us all to live more fully and make the most of the time we have. It encourages us to cherish life and create lasting memories, knowing that the legacy we leave behind can inspire others, just as those before us have inspired us.
