Celebration Day is a national moment on the last Monday in May – a time to pause and remember the people who made us who we are today.
Since 2022, the day has been marked in myriad ways by many well-known voices. From Helena Bonham Carter and Satish Kumar to Judi Dench, Tom Holland, Anya Hindmarch, Stephen Fry, Asa Butterfield, Susan Wokoma, David Jason, Julia Samuel, Prue Leith, Toby Jones, Alexander Armstrong, Alison Hammond, Meg Jones, Ellie Simmonds and Anthony Seldon — alongside organisations, schools and community groups — the day has been embraced across the country, uniting generations and cultures.

“I love how we’re a patchwork of every single person we’ve met, and every single person we’ve loved. Even if people die, they remain part of our fabric, our internal world. We need to stop in this crazy world, and have permission to stop — a day in which we can invoke them, and remember them, and let them live again through us”

“Celebration Day is a great idea. I’ll be remembering my brother Jamie, who was such an inspiration and an incredible friend. Who will you be celebrating?”
Prue Leith
“Being Brits we tend to have a bit of a stiff upper lip and try to move on. It should be a good thing to celebrate those moments and talk about it a little more. Our plan this year is to play some golf. We’ll have a drink afterwards and I’m sure we’ll hear some stories again.”
Chris Robshaw
“Celebration Day will be for my parents. Both sets of parents were called Michael and Rosemary, so it’s going to be a big Michael and Rosemary day for me.”
