Dexter Remembers his Mum

I'm Dexter Clift, but most people know me as River Medway.

I’m a drag queen, and on Celebration Day, the best way I could possibly celebrate my mum is through my drag. She loved it. She was at my first ever gig. I always said “I'm so lucky to have a parent like that”, but I don't think I'm lucky. I think it’s just how it should be.

She cared so much about other people. She used to meet a lot of young LGBTQ+ people who didn’t have a mum like her and she’d be there for them. I feel so privileged to be her son.
